Steph Hay

I'm just some girl who got inspired by this guy.

Through 11.11.11, I'm spending at least five minutes each day recording myself improvising on my old piano.

I want to learn if daily, creative musical exploration improves my emotional and intellectual wellbeing.

Also, don't steal. It's mean.

Feeling way low on creative juice tonight. When the recording abruptly stopped because Garageband decided to throw an error, I just decided to keep what it *did* catch and call it a night. Better energy is assured tomorrow.

Wait, I created the perfect thundersnow soundtrack. Somebody make the movie -- here is the theme song that will roll during credits when you're leaving the theatre.

Complete with near-end-of-song cough! How lovely!

Someday, I'll have a room with a big huge breathtaking piano in it. Nothing else. Well, except me. And a lamp. And probably my cat.

But definitely no dishwasher within earshot.

Basically 10 weeks into this experiment, I'm averaging a 6-creation-per-week schedule. Hooray!

I cut the rage-fueled beginning because it sounded fruitless and pathetic, and I opted instead to keep the rest of the tune, which sounds hopeful to me, and definitely is what I want to spend my energy creating anyway.

About halfway through, I was just loving the dramatic pauses and singularity of the notes. So I then proceeded to play those for like 5 minutes. Pretty sure that whole section is hardly audible or even interesting to anyone but me. Eep!
